    A Donny Hathaway Collection

It snuck up on me this year...I wasn't even aware of it...until I had to write today's date this morning @ work.  This day...this day of significance...with multi-layered meaning to me...(major sigh).  Today is May 9.

In fact, today is the 14th anniversary that my LA girlfriends threw me a bridal shower(major sigh).

Now - it wasn't because I was actually getting married.  Yea...it's a longer story than I want to write about right now, but my girlfriends decided to throw me a bridal shower anyway.  It was one of the best parties ever (and I didn't have to plan a thing!).  We had the most yummiest of food, I received such simply lovely gifts, we had a few fun games with prizes, and had fun with hair and makeup.  I think I have a few pictures in a box somewhere.

It's funny that May 9 still jars me each year.  Today...I'm stunned that it's actually here again.  Another year.  I don't know exactly what I'm feeling right now...honestly, some mixed emotions.  BUT - my heart is full...really...and I'm so grateful for my life.  For real...I'm so blessed...wouldn't change a thing.  Well - maybe a few things.  =].

Well - now.  Almost 2 months since my last entry...hmm.  At least I can say that I've been consistent.  Ha!

Ok - I was journaling the other night about a "situation" I found myself in recently...and thought, "now that sounds like lyrics to a song!"  I somehow had the music from LeAnn Rimes' "Probably Wouldn't Be This Way" on my mind during this time.  Well - here's my first (and quite possibly my last!) attempt at songwriting...

What's going on?  Was I fooling myself?
I thought I was ok until it dawned on me, as I left
What happened to my resolve? Just enjoy the friend he's been
But then I hugged him goodbye and then later found myself coming undone

    I found myself wanting more...
    More time to talk
    More time to laugh
    Just more of him
I can't believe how quickly I went from being ok to falling again

That's all I've got so far.  Nothing to change my career path over, I know (although...).  But, it felt good to get a little out of it than just some thoughts on paper.  I wonder if that's what songwriters feel.

    It's Time
    By Michael Bublé

[Two blog entries in one week...miracles do still exist!]

I went to the Michael Buble concert @ TPAC last night. We had fine seats (thanks to my little brother!) in Loge Right, Row A. We arrived a bit late due to the fab dinner we had @ Capitol Grille (the restaurant @ The Hermitage Hotel). We asked for our fav server Terry and he was great, as usual. He also brought us some tasty chef creations, a spot of his latest fav wine, and 3 different creme brulees - on the house!

Although I was enjoying the songs and Michael was quite good live (a bit crass and his rendition of Maroon 5's "This Love" was marvelous!), I found myself totally focused on Alan Chang - the music director (and pianist) - the entire time.  He's brilliant - arranges a lot of what they do, cowrote "Home," directs Buble's band/orchestra, etc.  Amazing.  Probably too young for me.

I had to rush home for a particular matter after the show...but then I got a call. It was a friend who was also at the concert who said she had someone who wanted to talk to me. It was Alan Chang!   We talked for a bit and probably would've hung out if they didn't have to head out for New Orleans last night.    Ok - I'm not a groupie  ...but there's something about his easygoing, sweet nature that makes me believe that he would have been a good hang.

Well - long story short...I'm going to Los Angeles for two weeks and Buble has a show during my time there. Although it'll probably be difficult for Alan to get me into that show at this point (and it being LA), he offered the possibility of attending their PBS taping next week. Giddy-up!    Oh - and he gave me his phone number   to give him a call about it when I get back to LA after my family trip to Vegas.    Maybe he'll want to go with me to see Yo-Yo Ma with The Silk Road Ensemble @ the Hollywood Bowl
